It’s the most magical time of the year. Hotel Contessa is a vibrant destination for San Antonio’s cultural and seasonal celebrations, none more so than the annual Holiday Parade and River Lighting Ceremony on the Riverwalk. Held the day after Thanksgiving, this spectacular ringing in of the holiday season features 28 illuminated floats and over 100,000 lights, turned on at sunset in a glittering and joy-filled gathering. We can’t wait to see you there.
Stunning Riverwalk Views
The ticketed parade – with the Grinch as Grand Marshal! – begins Friday, November 24, 2023 at 6pm, with arrival at Hotel Contessa and the lighting of the Riverwalk at 7pm. Join us at our exclusive viewing party for a stunning view of the Riverwalk illumination – please note, tickets are required for this event.

The Riverwalk’s lights turn on from sundown to sunrise every day until January 8, but there are plenty of other reasons to visit San Antonio over the holiday season! The Light The Way Festival is complete with food trucks, holiday shopping, and visits from Santa, while December is filled with special events like the Alamo Bowl and Celebrate San Antonio, a New Year’s Eve celebration in the heart of downtown.
